Welcome To 'Stories by Racheal'!
Here at 'Stories by Racheal', I post stories written by myself. I like creative writing and I hope that those of you reading my wild tales of danger and adventure, life and love, silliness and seriousness, will enjoy the stories as much as I enjoy writing them! While I want my stories to be entertaining, my ultimate goal is to present stories that deal with life in a godly fashion. I do not want to preach, but I do want these writings of mine, at their core, to glorify God. My characters are, for the most part, Christians. They are not perfect (nor do I want them to come across that way), but they are sinners saved by God's sovereign grace. Moreover, they do not constantly use 'sanctified language'. By that I mean that they are not always saying things like, "Praise the Lord...", "Thank-God", and other pious sounding phrases to indicate their Christianity. I myself do not use such language on a frequent basis, but rather I try to shape my thinking by a biblical worldview. This biblical worldview is what I try to weave into my stories in an unobnoxious fashion. It is there and I do not try to hide it, but neither do I attempt to parade it. I want it to be natural.
Another note about the characters I write about...many of them, if not all of them, display certain characteristics that I possess (good and bad). I would wager to say that the ones who get the most time/treatment are the ones who in the long run are the most like me. I 'know' these characters in a way that I simply cannot know the others; even though all of them are the figments of my active imagination! Then, of course, there are other characters that are more like someone I know. Take Phineas, from "James and Burke", for example. I already had written the character and knew him pretty well...and then I met the real-life Phineas! (The young fellow I'm referring to has a completely different name and the only reason I include this was because it really tickled me when I realized that I had just met the replica of my character.)
The first tale is "A Gray Kepi". It is about a young Confederate soldier returning home after the War Between the States. I will admit that there is much I do not know about the so-called Reconstruction era and so the story most likely is not historically accurate in several places and instances. I originally posted this one on my personal blog, so I am going to direct you there rather than taking the time and effort to move the entire 21 parts over here.
The first "season" of the second tale, which I am still working on, was originally written in script format, so I fear it comes across somewhat clunky. The title of this one is "James and Burke". It is, as you will find, a Western about two families.
Enjoy!
